2008 Fall Leaf Collection Schedule

City of Altoona:
Check your location on the map to determine if your collection is on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
Brush will be collected during the first week only, October 27 - 30.
Brush/tree limbs must be less than 3” in diameter and cut to length to fit into yard waste bags for collection. Bagged collection of leaves, vegetable & bedding plants
starts Monday, November 4 and ends Wednesday, November 26.
ALL YARD WASTE (INCLUDING TREE BRANCHES, LEAVES,
AND VEGETATION MUST BE IN PAPER LEAF BAGS)
(The Altoona Highway Dept. crews cannot collect whole cut trees)

*City Hall closed on 11/12 for Veteran’s Day. Leaf collection will be 11/11.

Hollidaysburg Borough:
Municipal collections Borough-wide occur every Monday (the area east of, and including, Penn St.) and Tuesday (the area west of Penn St., Holliday Hills, and Gaysport) starting October 6 & 7 through December 1 & 2. Brush, twigs, & branch bundles tied with string or twine will also be collected. Twigs and branches must be no larger than 3” in diameter. Please do not put out bags any earlier than the weekend before your collection day.

Logan Township:
Township-wide leaf collection and plant material, piled tree, brush trimmings, and branches (up to 3” in diameter and 6’ in length) will begin on Monday, October 20 and end on Friday, November 21. The leaf vacuum and leaf collector will allow residents a choice of either raking leaves to the edge of their property to be vacuumed or placing them in paper bags to be set along their property for pick up. Place leaves and other collection material either in bags or piles along the public road for pick up. Please make manageable brush piles.

Tyrone Borough:
Municipal collections borough-wide collections will occur every Monday starting October 6 through December 1.

PLEASE REMEMBER:

• Hollidaysburg Borough residents: please make manageable brush piles!
• Leaves, vegetable and bedding plants may be placed in any paper bag. Large paper yard bags are available for purchase at local stores.
• Bags over 50 lbs. will not be collected.
• Items other than those specified will not be collected.
• Please do not use tape to seal the bag.
• Place your bags at the curb by 7 am on the day of collection.
• Do not put bags out early.
• Do not put bags in the alley (except in Holliday Hills).
• The Blair County Compost Facility will accept brush, grass clippings, leaves & yard waste year-round during hours of operation. All fees apply. Call the Blair County Department of Solid Waste & Recycling at 696-4620 or 949-2566 or visit them online at www.blaircounty.org for details.
