Environmental Video Competition!
This
year's theme is:
“Go Green...
Use the Blue Bin!”

Students are required to write, direct, and star in their own
production of a 30-second video.
The Blair County Department of Solid Waste & Recycling provides free presentations on recycling, composting, and other environmental concerns.
We can also help you start or enhance your school recycling program.
Tours of the Blair County Compost Facility are also available to school groups.

 AWARDS!
A 1st Place, 2nd Place, and 3rd Place award will be given to students in each of the three divisions — elementary (grades 1-5), middle (grades 6-9), and high school (grades 10-12).
Honorable Mention Awards will be given at the judges’ discretion.
1st Place Award winners will receive a check for $300 for their class and a trip to the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh. The class will see a sky show at the planetarium, take in a show at the OMNIMAX theater, tour the U.S.S. Requin (a WWII submarine docked at the Center), enjoy a tasty lunch, then spend the rest of the day at the various exhibits in the Science Center. Their winning entry may also be featured in the Department’s office video.
2nd Place Award winners will receive a check for $200 for their class, and 3rd Place Award winners will receive a check for $100 for their class’ educational needs.
Honorable Mention Award winners, along with the other winners, will receive a plaque (made out of recycled materials) from the Blair County Commissioners at a special awards ceremony that will take place in the Courthouse. Family, friends, school representatives, and the media will be invited to attend, too. Group photos will be taken of the Award winners with the Commissioners.

Videos may be made on DVDs, CDs, or video cassette tapes. |

If using video tape, please use a new tape and cue the tape to the entry’s beginning. |

Always review the entry before it is submittd. If you can’t understand what is being said, chances are that the judges won’t be able to, either. |

No violence, please! This is an environmentally friendly activity. |

Choose a location with little or no background noise and with a soft surface to absorb sounds and echoes (i.e., a carpeted room). |

Speak clearly and keep the camcorder or microphone close to the people speaking. |

Remember: the total running time is 30 seconds! |
